●A high-quality example of Kyoho Chogin, a Japanese silver currency issued during the Edo period from 1714.

Unlike modern coins with a fixed face value, Chogin was used as weighed silver currency, with its value determined primarily by weight. The Kyoho issue is especially notable for its high silver fineness, approximately 80% silver, restoring the standard close to that of the earlier Keicho Chogin.

This example weighs 130.37g and retains attractive original surface character. Its elongated, irregular shape and multiple official hallmarks are characteristic of Chogin silver from the Edo monetary system.
